This is a base for holding a mold tube, to make lead billets for the LED-1-H extruder. One comes with the extruder kit, but for higher production you can set up more than one and fill several tubes, allow them to cool and shake the lead core (about 4 inches long by 3/4 inch diameter) out as soon as the core shrinks slightly. When the billets are cool enough to handle, you can insert one into the extruder and make it into lead wire with the Hydro Press. The BMT-BASE comes with two mounting screws, which normally are screwed into the bench top. For more room on the bench, bases can be mounted on a piece of 2 x 4 wood, which in turn can be securely clamped to the bench and easily stored afterward. The tube, shown here on the base, can be ordered separately. Two tubes come with the LED-1-H kit.
