Replacement RFJM rods screw into either the -R type button
bases for reloading press rams, or the -S type 5/8-24 thread
bases for Corbin S-Press rams. They have a 6mm thread. To
remove a broken or worn out rod, hold the base in a nylon
or padded collet to prevent marring. Hold the rod with a
pin vise or a 3-jaw drill chuck fitted to a T-handle, securely
fastened so it cannot slip. Unscrew the old pin, and screw
in the new one. If the old pin has broken off flush with
the holder or base, it may be necessary to use a tap
extractor or simply replace the entire punch. Sometimes a
broken pin can be turned by carefully rotating it with
light taps on a small diameter drift punch, aimed along
the edge of the broken punch so as to apply rotary torque
to the broken stub.
