This die set turns fired .22 LR cases into preforms for
6mm (243) jackets. The final size takes place when the lead core
is seated and expands the jacket. The head of the case
is drawn straight, and the mouth of the jacket is flared. Only
the head section is reduced to about 0.219 inches. The reset
of the case is left full diameter, except for the
expanded mouth.
Expanding the mouth allows the jacket to seal the pressure
during core seating, so that the lead core will expand
the entire jacket to .2425 in preparation for making a
full diameter .243 bullet in the point form die.
This set consists of a RFJM-6MS (die and punch set for the
-S press) plus an adapter kit for the ram of the -H type
Corbin presses and the -H type punch holder. This kit is
usable on both the 224 and the 243 jacket makers, so if
you have one die set for the Hydro-Press, Mega-Mite Press,
or the Hydro Junior, you can simply purchase the type -S
die set for the other caliber, and use the same adapter.
