This is the first die in the add-on RBT-2-H two die, rebated boattail forming set. It is offered as a replacement but is not normally used by itself. Instead of seating the core in the jacket, with a flat base CS-1-H die set, you would form a rebated boattail in two steps. First, seat the lead core into the jacket with this die (CS-1-H). Then, use the same external core seat punch to seat the core again using the BT-2-H die. This two-step operation guarantees a uniform, square, precise rebated base form when done correctly. The BT-1-H die is sometimes used to make a boattail base on a lead bullet, with a semi-wadcutter style nose punch for the external core seater. Making "bevel base" bullets can be done in this manner. However, the standard BT-1-H die is somewhat less in diameter than the final bullet in order to allow the part to go into the point forming die easily. If you plan some unusual operation, you need to let us know what you are doing so we can advise on the correct diameter to make this die. The CS-1-H comes with an internal ejector punch, and an external core seating punch. The diameter of the core seating punch depends on the jacket wall thickness and the depth of seating (length of core relative to the jacket length, which is another way of saying core weight). If you don't know the diameter of seating punch required, tell us instead which jacket you are using and how far into the jacket you plan to seat the core (or the core length). In the absence of other information, we will send a standard core seat punch for open tip bullets in our most often purchased jacket for this caliber. If no ready made jacket is available, we will assume the use of a copper tubing jacket unless otherwise informed.
