LT-1-S point forming die is used to finish the tip of an exposed lead jacketed bullet. It follows the use of a PF-1-S point forming die, and reshapes the exposed lead tip to the desired sharpness or radius. Lead tip dies are made for a specific caliber, but the ogive shape (and tip shape) are controlled by the internal punch. You can add additional internal punches to use the same die for different ogives in one caliber. You do not have to purchase different dies for different nose shapes, only the internal punch. The base punch should match the base of the bullet as formed in the previous steps. That is, for RBT base bullets use a RBT punch, and for flat, cupped, or hollow bases use the same shape punch. The punch from the point forming die will fit the lead tip die, although one comes with the lead tip die also. Please note that the optional "tip closer" punch can be used with open tip jacketed bullets to help reduce the tip opening diameter. It normally will reduct the opening size by about 50% compared to what is possible with what comes out of the point forming die (PF-1). You can use the die as both a tip closer for open tip jacketed bullets, and as a lead tip finisher for lead tp jacketed bullets if you keep both the standard LT finishing internal punch and add the "tip closer" internal punch. Of course you only use one or the other on a bullet, depending on whether it has a lead or open tip.
