This is a lead semi-wadcutter style die for the -S press (bleed holes to adjust weight, nose and base punch to make a shouldered style lead bullet), but with non-standard or custom punches, custom body diameter, custom bleed hole size, location, or number, or a diameter which is not a standard caliber. In other words, it is a die not likely to ever be "on the shelf" and has to be built to custom order since it is built with non-standard specifications. Examples include dies made with over-sized main die body diameter, for somewhat harder than usual core material. The LSWC-1 die has a straight hole, all the way through, and is fitted with full diameter internal and external punches which press on the core material to shape it. Since the nose is formed by pressing against a punch, it follows that the nose can't be blended smoothly into the shank without a step where the edge of the punch contacts the core material. Making this step much smaller than about 0.015 inch width means the punch edge will be so thin that it will be fragile and may not survive the continual movement under high pressure (and certainly not dropping it on the floor). Therefore, the bullets made in this die will all have a small shoulder, at least .015 inches wide. If you want to make a lead bullet that has no shoulder between nose and shank, then the proper die is the point forming die, or PF-1-S. This die has the shape of the bullet made in the polished and diamond lapped die walls, not in a punch. The internal punch simply pushes on the tip of the bullet to eject it.
