This is a dual-clip handle retainer assembly for the CSP-2 Mega Mite press. It secures to the left or right link, under the screws but on top of the synchronizing plate (link tie or sync panel) which fastens the two link bars together. The assembly consists of a Z-shaped mounting plate, two spring C-clips, and two mounting screws holding the clips to the mounting plate. The screws which fasten this assembly to the press are already part of the press. They are removed, the mounting plate is positioned over the "tweak plate" or sync plate so the screw holes align, and then the screws are replaced.
The purpose of this part is to hold the press handle in the vertical position so bumping the table or stand does not make the handle fall. It is supplied as part of all current presses, but may be retrofitted to early presses. It is provided as a replacement, as the clip springs may eventually wear out or break with heavy use, or become damaged by accident, especially when moving the press with the clip assembly attached. (Generally it would be recommended to remove both the handle and the clip assembly for transportation, unless the original Corbin carton is used. In that case, the handle can be removed and shipped in the carton, and the internal bracing will support the press and protect both the handle and the clip assembly.
The clip assembly can be mounted on either the left or the right side. When changing sides, the assembly will need to be inverted to keep the clips facing forward toward the handle. When correctly adjusted, the handle is operated normally and snaps into the clips on the down stroke of the press, which is the upward position of the handle. Please note that the roller handle option is shown, but the same handle retainer clip works with the long handle as well.
