This is the sintered bronze base plate bushing (bearing against the ram) for the CHP-1 Hydro Press. It is 1-1/2 inch ID, and 1-3/4 inch OD, with a 3/4-inch length. It is an "Oilite" sintered bushing (SS4846-12) and is normally kept in stock for replacement purposes, although replacement is extremely rare since there is little or no side loading on the ram. To remove and re-install the bushing, make a mild steel, polycarbonate or brass tool that is a two diameter cylinder four to six inches long, with a small diameter to fit inside the bushing closely, and the larger diameter just slightly smaller than the OD of the bushing. This can be used to drive the old bushing out, and to press the new bearing in. Do not drive the bushing in with a mallet or hammer alone, since thiw is likely to damage the bushing. Only one bushing is required per press.
