PCM-W wheel for power cannelure machine changes the
caliber to a different size. Hardened, ground steel wheel
embosses a serrated cannelure groove of .050-width for a
specific diameter of bullet. Adjustment for depth of groove
can also compensate for small diameter differences.
Position of cannelure from bullet base is set by precision
.025 and .048 spacers placed on the drive shaft, raising the
wheel to the desired height. The groove on the wheel is
offset so the wheel can be turned over to raise or lower
the groove a different amount.
Order by bullet diameter specified in inches, not by the
name (for instance, a .223 caliber is really 0.224 diameter
so you'd want a .224 inch "caliber". A .38 Special is
actually 0.357 inch diameter, so you'd want .357 caliber
for the wheel). A .45 could be .458 rifle, or .452 pistol,
or another size such as .454 for the old Colt revolvers, so
specify the actual diameter of the bullet.
Cannelure position over 0.8 inches
from the bullet base may require a custom backing plate for
proper support of longer bullets, such as the .50 BMG. Generally,
if the bullet length is less than 1.5 inches and the cannelure
is not more than 0.8 inches from the base, a standard tool
should work.
