This special kit of hardened rollers and axels for the
HCT-2 knurling tool came about by special request from
clients using jacketed bullets in sabots. Using the
standard mild-steel rollers with jacketed bullets soon
dulls and wears the diamond points (which are designed
for long life with lead bullets only). These extremely
tough, hardened tool steel rollers and matching hardened,
ground steel axels make the HCT-2 suitable for applying
a knurled surface to jacketed bullets.
The kit includes replacement snap rings, two hardened
axels, two knurled hardened v-way rollers, a knurled main
roll, and a long-arm hex wrench. The very tough alloy
used for the rollers is difficult to machine and slow to
heat treat, which is the reason for the cost, but it solves
the problem of knurling metals that are harder than lead.
