This is a 4-S ogive Pin-Point (metal tip) high BC .452 bullet especially made for use in PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbines) such as the Bushmaster. The long range, high BC bullets with pin-point metal tips penetrate and expand on impact with higher delivered energy than conventional .452 bullets. You can add this die to a conventional 45 ACP or 454 Casull set (which is really .452 diameter) and expand your capability into the high energy, longer range PCC category. This die can be used to make all-lead bullets or jacketed bullets by using a core swage (CSW-1-H) to adjust the weight precisely, and a core seater (CS-1-S) to put the core into a jacket and expand them to nearly finished diameter. The die can be used by itself for lead slugs, which are handy for use in sabots for muzzle loaders (50 caliber blackpowder guns for example). They can also be used in .452 barreled high powered airguns (such as the PreCharged Pneumatic type, abbreviated PCP -- not to be confused with the PCC centerfire carbines but, in this case, using the same style of bullet). A good jacket to use with this shape is the J-45-860 which is listed under handgun jackets, even though it makes a good carbine bullet jacket. The lead wire size for a lead slug is either the .430 diameter, LW-10, or for jacketed bullets using the J-45 jackets, get the .390 diameter wire instead.
