This is a custom head plate for the CHP-1 Hydro Press or the CSP-2 Mega Mite press (both use the same design of press head). The "head" is the top rectangular steel bar or plate with the threaded hole, mounted on top of the two support rods. Custom plates are those with any thread other than 1-1/2 x 12 tpi. Smaller threads can be handled by using an adapter bushing, listed on another page. Larger threads require replacement of the head. Alignment of the head with the centerline of the ram is critical, so be sure you can do this before attempting to remove the original, aligned press head. Important Notes: The optional 1.5 x 12 alignment jig is used to replace the original head. This is only needed if you plan to go back to the original head at some point. The custom alignment jig matches your custom head, and is used to align it with the ram. This is an optional tool used to help you get the ram centerline and head centerline to match perfectly. The 1.5 x 12 adapter bushing matches your custom head plate and adapts it to standard 1.5 x 12 punch holder. Using this bushing means you do not need to replace the custom head with the standard one to use standard 1-1/2 x 12 accessories. Select the desired thread from the choices listed, or enter your own custom thread size in the boxes provided. Bear in mind that these will be made to order for you, and are NOT in stock. There are too many possible combinations to stock them all. Demand for custom head plates is not high, but it is reasonably consistent. Unfortunately there is no one size that is popular enough to make for stock. But we'll make any size you wish, subject to available tooling. If you need an optional alignment tool, we can provide a custom tool that fits the press ram and press head you select, and will only slip together when the ram and head are in alignment to an acceptable tolerance. If you also need to change the head back to standard size, we can provide an alignment tool for the regular 1-1/2 inch x 12 head, which works in the same way, and helps you get the original head back where it belongs! But if you add the 1.5 x 12 adapter bushing, it will have an O.D. thread to match your custom press head, so you will not ever have to change back to the standard 1.5 x 12 head in order to use standard tooling or dies. CAUTION! The space between the two upright support posts will limit the size of the hole, and the two nuts that secure the head to those upright supports will limit whether or not you can put a locking nut on the top side of the head plate (around your special thread die or other tooling). You may be able to put a lock ring or nut on the bottom side of the head plate, instead, where only the support rods would interfere with it and not the two hex nuts. With 2-inch or larger holes, your ability to use locking nuts is limited to only very thin thin lock rings (not in height, but in diameter) to avoid interference with those required support rod nuts. If you are using a hex nut for a locking nut on your custom thread die or tool, measure the widest diameter across the corners of that nut and make sure that your press has at least that much space between the upright support rod nuts.
