This ia a type -S (5/8-24) point forming die capable of making a finished lead tip bullet at the same time the ogive is formed. The die has a synchronized, pressure-sealing ejector punch with specific length matched to the exact die cavity. The tip of the ejector punch can be made flat, concave, or with a projection to make a hollow point cavity in the bullet core, as you wish, in standard calibers (bullet diameters) and ogive shapes.

Please note:
You do not need to provide values for ALL of the options. If left blank, the most popular and useful value will be used. The options are offered in case you have a specific value in mind for your own reason. Feel comfortable in leaving blank any value about which you ae unsure or do not have a specific requirement. This kind of die can be used to make a lead bullet, a jacketed lead tip bullet, a muzzle loader slug or an airgun pellet. The latter two would normally be made with a cup or hollow base punch. This die does NOT have bleed holes, so the weight of the core would be adjusted prior to forming the ogive. This die is ideal for flat tip or hollow pointed jacketed bullets, since it eliminates one step in production (no lead tip die is required to finish the bullet nose).

The die looks like and is essentially the same design as a PF-1-ST tip seating/ogive forming die, but only uses one synchronized length ejector punch instead of two. If a replacement punch is needed, the sync length is require to make it fit the die properly.

If you want a hollow point (hole poked into the lead tip) please describe the desired length and diameter you want. This is formed by machining the end of the ejector punch to match the shape desired, making a "probe" that penetrates the lead core leaving a mirror image hole. If you don't want a hollow point, leave the text field blank.

If you would like to have bleed holes as well as a pressure sealing, tip finishing ejector, please order the PF-1-SB (the "B" means "bleed holes" which require the pressure sealing ejector to operate). The PF-1-SB die can form a lead core to the finished shape and weight in one stroke, so it is a very fast means of making smooth ogive airgun pellets, black powder slugs, and other lead bullets. It can be used with Base Guard disks and gas checks, but not with jackets (they would block the bleed holes).

This die can be used with jackets, or with lead, since it has no bleed holes. That is the main distinction between the -SL and the -SB style of dies. The ogive shape and the caliber are standard with either kind of die -- adding a custom ogive or a custom diameter automatically makes the die a PF-1-SC custom die, since it requires building new reamers and laps as well as making the die itself with them.
